What can we

The equestrian stable of Herman Smit and Marriët Smit-Hoekstra. In addition to training, competing, and schooling, we also assist in the purchase and sale of sport horses. We are both active in show jumping, from national grassroots level up to 4 1.55m international classes. Training & instruction: varied program
Marriët has held the Orun Certificate since 2009. Besides jumping instruction, she is also active as a coach at competitions. Her biggest coaching success is obtaining the Olympic Qualification with the Chinese rider Moadonog Yuan. He also managed to qualify for 5* Global competition in Shanghai under Marriet’s guidance.
Marriet teaches mostly private lessons. It is also possible to follow an in-house training program. Please contact us for the possibilities.
Herman Smit has held his Orun Certificate since 2016. He gives instruction to various associations, as well as private lessons and accompaniment at competitions.
SH Sporthorses has a large outdoor arena (75m x 36m) with a full course and premium footing by Zorgdrager Manegebodems. An indoor arena (25m x 45m) with the same high-quality surface by Zorgdrager is currently under development. The facility also includes a ditch, water jump, and hill to add variety to the training.

For students looking for a recognized internship address, SHSporthorses offers internships. Under supervision, the student will be exposed to all the ins – and outs of the horse world. When the student gets the hang of the tasks, he/she is allowed to work independently a lot. In advance we discuss the learning goals so that at the end of the internship you will have a lot of luggage! SH Sporthorses is an Aequor Recognized Training Company. Recently we received students from Norwin College, Anna Maria van Schurman and Deurne.

Brushing the horses
Saddling up
Lunging
Bringing horses and ponies in and out
Washing tail and legs
Learning to shear the horses
Treating the hooves
Feeding (biks, hay and silage)
Fattening out and caring for the stables
Sweeping
Polishing and oiling armor
Getting away with obstacles and distances
Learning to handle young horses
Going along/helping out at competitions
Walk along during SGW lessons
Getting in and out of the horses
Provide assistance in teaching

What a week… 🥇
Really blessed with our superstar For Chacco TN (for pleasure x Chacco blue) who 🥇🏆wins the Sires of the World 2025 Lanaken. His 5th grand prix of this year. Unbelievable, what a horse. For us he was already the best of the world. ❤️
Also our 7yo Nijerite (comthago x Douglas) and Nibbit (highway tn x Verdi) showed some good rounds. Big future ahead of these top horses.
